Fruity flavors twist together with subtle floral undertones to create this delightful Passion Fruit Tango Tea that will dance across your taste buds!

Passion Fruit Tango Tea

The inspiration behind this Passion Fruit Tango Tea recipe might seem pretty obvious. It is Starbucks’ Iced Passion Tango Tea. I LOVE the fruity and floral flavor of Starbucks’ amazing tea, but unfortunately, it is not ideal for a blood sugar balancing lifestyle. It has a lot of sugar and even if you get it unsweetened, it still has fruit juice which isn’t the best for blood sugar or for weight loss (but it is necessary for flavor).

Fortunately, recreating this tea so that it is Trim Healthy Mama friendly was super easy! I read the ingredients on the Starbucks website then looked for teas that matched. I found all three teas or tea blends that I needed while shopping at my local King Soopers grocery store. The teas I used are TAZO Passion, Traditional Medicinals Organic Hibiscus, and Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Spice.

Passion Fruit Tango Tea

The Passion tea by TAZO is a blend of passion fruit, lemon grass, orange peel, and rose hips.

The Organic Hibiscus tea by Traditional Medicinals is pure hibiscus.

The Cinnamon Apple Spice tea by Celestial Seasonings has more hibiscus, chamomile, natural cinnamon, and apple flavoring.

Combined, these three teas make Passion Fruit Tango Tea that tastes very similar to the Starbucks version, but without the sugar or blood sugar damaging ingredients!

This tea is great served hot, warm, or ice cold. It is also good with or without sweetener.

And, though this tea is already very nutritious by itself, you can amp it up a bit by adding collagen (stir in while it’s hot so it dissolves).

COOKING MODE

Instructions

  • Bring water to a boil. Steep the tea bags in it and allow them to brew for about 15 minutes (or longer for stronger flavor).
  • Once brewed, squeeze the excess tea from the bags and discard the bags. Sweeten tea to desired sweetness.
  • Serve fresh and hot or allow to cool and add ice to serve it cold.

Notes

If you’d like, you could triple the bags (3 of each kind, 9 bags total) and brew in a full gallon of boiling water. Let it brew for several hours so all the water gets infused. Then wring out and throw out the tea bags, add sweetener (or add sweetener as you go), and enjoy!
