Enjoy this super easy recipe for ridiculously tasty red, white, and blue strawberries for this Fourth of July or any other patriotic gathering.
Barbecues, potlucks, picnics, fireworks celebrations, and welcome home parties for super heroes (a.k.a. veterans) are all fun-filled, joyous, and patriotic American events. So why not have a little fun and enjoy patriotic color themed food without wrecking your health!
You’ve probably seen some pretty similar red, white, and blue strawberries floating about the internet or on Pinterest. In those versions, the strawberries are dipped in melted white chocolate candy coating then in blue colored sugar. So pretty and so yummy!
Unfortunately, there isn’t really a white chocolate candy coating that is Trim Healthy Mama approved (not that I’ve found or created as of yet anyway). So I decided to take a bit of a different route.
Last week I shared a recipe for some French cream. This creamy, velvety, smooth sweet stuff is perfect for filling pastries, but it is SO amazing when used as a berry dip. And since it’s pristine white, I decided to use it instead of the white chocolate candy coating. And, in lieu of the colored sugar, I used some colored xylitol.
The resulting red, white, and blue strawberries are really good. Like really, really good. As in you can’t just enjoy one bite, you’ll need more! Even my kids loved them (not that I let them have much, I mean, they were MY on-plan treat!).
