Enjoy this easy, homemade, low carb, keto and THM friendly powdered coffee creamer at home or on the go!
I’ve already made a liquid coffee creamer (with a bunch of flavors to choose from if you so desire), a pumpkin coffee creamer (made using real pumpkin!), and a Christmas edition coffee creamer. But something I’ve been asked about a LOT is for a Trim Healthy Mama friendly POWDERED creamer. So, without further ado…here it is!
Shaker for On the Go
To use your powdered creamer on the go, you might want to get a small spice shaker like this one. Or just save a spice container and clean it out well (might aim to use one that housed a less strong flavored spice lest the spice flavor mix with the creamer!).
Powdered Coffee Creamer Flavors
To one WHOLE recipe of the powdered creamer (located towards the end of this post), add the additional following ingredients for the flavor of you choice (feel free to increase or decrease flavors to your own liking).
Chocolate
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder*
- 2 extra teaspoons Gentle Sweet OR 2 extra tablespoons Lakanto powdered monkfruit sweetener (or equivalent sweetener)
Coconut Créme
- add another ½ cup coconut milk powder
Cookies & Cream
- 1 tablespoons black cocoa powder*
- 1 extra teaspoon pure vanilla powder
Cinnamon
- ½ tablespoon ground cinnamon*
French Vanilla
- extra 2 teaspoons pure vanilla powder
- beans from 1 vanilla pod (allow to dry overnight on a paper towel first)
Mocha
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder*
- 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
Peppermint
- ½ to 1 teaspoon peppermint powder
Peppermint Mocha
- ½ to 1 teaspoon peppermint powder
- 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
Pumpkin Spice
- 2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice*
Very Vanilla
- 2 extra teaspoons pure vanilla powder
* NOTE 1: The ingredients with an asterisk (*) might (might not, depends on quality and how hot your coffee is) require a blender or milk frother to mix into the coffee. Therefore, these flavors might not be the best to use on the go.
NOTE 2: If you are using FRESH ingredients for this recipe and add them to HOT coffee, it should mix in just fine without any clumping (from my experience). So if you use less than fresh ingredients or use less than hot coffee, it just might clump up. That said, sometimes certain ingredients decide to behave however they want and might clump up anyway (just like store bought powdered creamer will clump up sometimes even though it’s not supposed to). So if it does that, I’m sorry. Squish those evil lumps or pulverize them in a blender or milk frother.
NOTE 3: Notice that none of these flavoring ideas have liquid in them. Any liquid might cause the powdered creamer to clump up. The closest thing I have to a liquid in the recipe below is coconut oil and that is added to give the creamer a more creamy consistency.
NOTE 4: You CAN omit the coconut oil I added to the recipe. This is there to give the powdered coffee creamer a more creamy consistency and add some extra nutrition. If you’d like a not so coconutty flavor, use the more processed coconut oil (such as the LouAna brand).
NOTE 5: If you want to, you can add collagen or whey protein powder to the recipe as well.

NOTE 3: Yes, you CAN add collagen or protein powder to this recipe as well! Keep in mind that this may weaken its original flavor. Personally, I prefer to just add the collagen or protein powder to my coffee cup as I prepare it.

Hi TJ! It’s my first time here. I want to make this recipe but we can’t do dairy. Can I just omit the heavy cream powder? Or do you have an alternative that would make a good replacement? Thank you!
TJ says
Hi, Nima! You can add an extra 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of the coconut milk or almond milk powder to balance the ingredients and it should be good to go!
Kitty says
You can find powdered versions of most alternative milks, including coconut milk powder and coconut cream powder.

Just curious about introducing moisture to a dry dairy product~ I’m concerned that it may not last long, as a shelf-stable pantry item. Even if stored in a cool, dark place. Does anyone have experience with keeping it over time? Any further info appreciated~ & thanks so much for the recipe TJ?
TJ says
Hi, Samantha! Do you mean the coconut oil? Coconut oil is shelf stable at room temperature and such a small amount is added (to enrich creaminess) that it should be fine. That said, if you live in a hotter climate where coconut oil is always liquid (I do not so I don’t have this problem–it is pretty much always solid) and don’t feel comfortable with it in the powder, then you can omit it. You could also try reducing the amount to about a teaspoon or so.
Hope that helps! Have a great day, Samantha!

So if I remove the powdered cream and use collagen instead it would have no fat at all?
TJ says
Hi, Kirsten. You can certainly give that a try, but it also wouldn’t have the creamy flavor either.

You’re the best! Thank you for this!

You. Are. Awesome! Thank you so much for giving us THM’s a variety for coffee creamer. This will be perfect to take on vacations (when it’s safe to travel again).

I think I like this better than the regular creamer you made TJ lol. It’s so yummy!
