Velvety cream cheese, smooth cream, and irresistible sweetener unite to produce a delightful French cream perfect for filling pastries or simply using as a berry dip!
French cream, which is also called pastry cream, French cream filling, or French créme (to name a few) is simply a creamy, velvety, delicious, AMAZING creamy mixture. It is often used to fill pastries such as eclairs.
In my experience, there are various ways to make French cream. Some recipes call for pineapple juice, some for lemon juice, and some for vanilla. Some are made with cream cheese and heavy cream, others with cream cheese and egg whites.
To keep this recipe simple and Trim Healthy Mama friendly, I used only 6 ingredients–cream cheese, sweetener, lemon juice, vanilla, salt, and cream. If you’d like, you could add about 1/2 teaspoon pineapple flavoring to the mix as well.
This French cream can be used for all kinds of sweet treats. You can use it as a topping for pie, ice cream, or a smoothie. You can stuff it into a low carb pastry. Or, my favorite application, use it as a delightful berry dip!
